Sometimes when opening a chest in LoL, you can find skins with the label "Legacy Content," but what exactly does that mean? Here is everything you need to know about the League of Legends Legacy skins.
There are a lot of skins in League of Legends. At the start of 2023, we have around 1,400 unique skins in the game, and we can only expect the number to grow in the time to come.
Some skins are available all year round, whereas other appear for a short period and is then gone, either forever or until the same time next year.

LoL - What Are Legacy Skins?
Legacy skins are somewhat rare skins only available for a limited period and are then placed in the Legacy Vault. Legacy skins usually appear during specific times of the year, like certain holidays or big events.
Most of the legacy skins can be found in Mystery Gifting and Hextech Crafting or on sale during certain events.
LoL - Where Can I Aquire Legacy Skins?
Legacy skins are usually available for sale during events, either in bundles or sold separately.
Most legacy skins are available through Mystery Gifting and Hextech Crafting. This does, however, mean that you cannot choose freely which skin you want unless they are available during a certain event, but have to be lucky enough to receive it in one of your chests.

Types of Legacy Skins
There are a bunch of Legacy skins in League of Legends. Here is a list briefly summarizing the different types of legacy skins.

LoL: What is the Difference Between Legacy Skins And Limited Skins?
Retired and Normal Legacy skins are available during various events and can be obtained in the Hextech Crafting System.
Limited skins, on the other hand, are only available when either completing certain tasks or when purchasing in a one-time-only event.
Limited skins are not available in the LoL Hextech Crafting system and have some of the rarest skins in League of Legends.
