The 2023 Mid-Season Invitational was great. Why? Because Riot decided to give Zeri a few nerfs and thanks to a slight rework for Yuumi, Zeri's favorite companion on Summoner's Rift also didn't get to participate at the tournament.

Fast forward to the first week of the 2023 LPL Summer Split and both Zeri and Yuumi have become key picks in the bot lane meta once more. Add in the fact that Zeri is now completely bonkers with Trinity Force and you've got one hell of a combo.

LoL Patch 13.12 Will Finally Make Key Zeri Adjustments

Zeri has been a balance nightmare since her release in 2021. She's become one of the most prominent picks in professional League of Legends thanks to her mobility and damage output. She's a slippery little bot laner and everyone is sick and tired of her.

So, Riot is going to be making some huge changes to her kit in the upcoming LoL Patch 13.12, in which they remove a whole part of her passive and also shift her Q passive to her main passive.

Confused? Well let's just show you the changes that Riot August has revealed on social media:

  • Base Stats
    • Movement Speed: 330 >>> 335
  • P - Living Battery
    • 45% Shield steal and 10% Movement Speed buff for 2s when shielded >>> Removed
    • Q passive moved here (Basic attacks are abilities, charged attacks deal burst magic damage)
    • Fully charged Basic Attacks now activate sheen (like an ability)
  • Q - Burst Fire
    • Basic attack passive moved to Passive
    • No longer activates sheen (like an attack)
  • E - Spark Surge
    • On-Hit crit scaling: 65% >>> 85%

On Reddit most players have meme-ed the changes, comparing Zeri to Ryze who has been one of the most reworked champions in all of League of Legends. The two champs do share some similarities, since both are either dogshit or OP in pro play.

Most are pretty happy though about the Sheen proc on her Q being moved to her passive since it had been one of the most annoying aspects of her kit.

The additional crit to her E should also enable players to play Crit Zeri more often and move away from Trinity Force Zeri which has become one of the best builds in the entire game for the champion.
