It's been the same for the entire season 14 now.
LoL: Top Lane Tier List For Patch 14.14
There were quite a lot of changes in LoL Patch 14.14, but how have these insane item adjustments affected the top lane? Let's check it out.
This patch saw Jayce and Cho'Gath getting some well deserved buffs and some other item adjustments such as Warmogs.
So let's check out the top lane tier list and which champions reign supreme in LoL Patch 14.14.
Top Lane Tier List: S-Tier Top Lane Picks Of LoL Patch 14.14
Top lane has quite a bit of variety, so we'll be talking about the best champions to play in the top lane among all the viable champions!
3. Cho'Gath
Cho'Gath is very underrated, but he is a beast in this patch. Don't let his 49.88% win rate fool you. He will chomp and stomp everything in his path.
Build:
Cho'Gath likes to go full tank. His base damage alone is enough to work through the laning phase. Definitely build Heartsteel first, because you want to focus on stacking HP. Then build tank items at your leisure. The usual suspects are Thornmail, Sunfire Cape, Kaenic Rookern and Force of Nature.
Power Spikes:
After Level 6 it is just a matter of stacking your HP. There is no clear power spike to go for other than completing your items and snacking on enemy champions.
Counters:
Cho'Gath is weak against fast duelists. Stay away from Fiora, Vayne and Riven, they will mess you up.
Good Synergies:
Like any full tank, Cho'Gath is in dire need of backup DPS. He needs an ADC or a fast hitting BORK user like Yi or Viego by his side.
2. Volibear
Volibear is currently one of the best champions in the game with a win rate of 51.06%%.
Build:
The best first item for Volibear is Rod of Ages. He has amazing base damage, which is why he can afford to be weaker until Rod of Ages reaches its full potential. After that, build Navori Quickblades and a tank item. Frozen Heart, Thornmail and Spirit Visage are all good choices.
Power Spikes:
Volibear is strong in all stages of the game, but the mid game is where he really shines. He obliterates in 1v1 situations and can also teamfight quite well. He does fall off in the later stages of the game, but only if the enemies have some tank killers lined up against him.
Counters:
Ranged top laners can definitely be a problem, but Singed really takes the cake here. If you see Singed in champ select, just don't pick Volibear.
Good Synergies:
You need a team that can hold their own without you. Voli works great on a side lane, since not many can challenge him and he deals an insane amount of turret damage.
1. Sett
Sett is the final boss of top lane and is sitting at a 51.28% win rate.
Build:
Sett should be building Tiamat first and then sit on it for a while. Stridebreaker is a great second option with the new Overlord's Bloodmail after that.
Power Spikes:
Sett is a strong lane champion who is able to sustain through small skirmishes from the get-go, but you'll want to wait until level 3 to have all your abilities ready.
Counters:
Long ranged champions like Vayne and Teemo should be avoided at all costs.
Good Synergies:
Sett can be paired with a lot of different champions. When facing ranged opponents, go for a jungler with CC and mobility, but you can also pick something supportive like Ivern to help him out and get him fed early.
Top Lane Tier List in LoL Patch 14.14: The Other Top Lane Champions
While the S-Tier Top Laners tend to be the best, there are still a lot of excellent picks in case these champions aren't available. Let's also take a look at some bottom-tier champions, which you should take note of and avoid!
The A-Tier Top Picks Of LoL Patch 14.14
If you're not a fan of the S-tier picks, or they are banned, this is where to look. The A-tier champs are good but don't warrant nerfs, so they are usually about the same.
Champion | Win Rate | Pick Rate |
Aatrox | 50.71% | 11.77% |
Camille |
52.37% | 5.75% |
Nasus |
51.92% | 5.08% |
Darius | 51.01% | 6.69% |
Zac | 51.87% | 1.50% |
Dr. Mundo | 49.81% | 7.05% |
Akshan | 53.68% | 0.53% |
Cassiopeia | 54.97% | 0.87% |
Poppy | 52.79% | 2.12% |
The A-tier has a lot of variety. You've got skirmishers and tanks, and there are more AP champions in the A tier this patch. It seems like there is a lot of variance in the meta right now, with a lot of different options viable for you to try out.
The F-Tier Top Picks Of LoL Patch 14.14
If you want to win, just stay away from these champions, basically no point in playing them unless you're a one-trick.
Champion | Win Rate | Pick Rate |
Heimerdinger | 47.38% | 0.63% |
Akali | 46.17% | 3.86% |
Skarner | 44.66% | 3.35% |
Yasuo | 46.90% | 1.56% |
Rammus | 48.27% | 4.33% |
Shyvana | 44.34% | 0.70% |
Shyvana Top has to be one of the worst picks this patch could offer. It should never lead you into a winning lane. Stay away from her and dodge champ select when you see this pick.
