The wait better have been worth it!
LoL Patch 12.6 Highlights
After a month of waiting since the last actual patch, the League of Legends patch 12.6 is finally here. We are finally getting the promised Mythic Overhaul, as well as some long-awaited champion updates.
Of course, there are far more changes in this patch than the Rengar update and the Mythic Overhaul, with Illaoi getting a lot of bugs regarding her own gameplay fixed, which will, hopefully, get her back into the limelight.
Rengar Updates in Patch 12.6
The way Riot see it, the goals with this update were to were to smooth out Rengar's gameplay, keep his current playstyle, and clarify his builds. Let's hope beyond hope that the new changes will not be too annoying to deal with.
Let's take a look at the changes, and judge for ourselves!
- Passive - Unseen Predator:
- Rengar's next leap will grant 1 Ferocity only if he has 0 Ferocity ⇒ upon losing all Ferocity stacks, no matter how much Ferocity he gains before his next leap,
- Rengar will be able to leap after 0.35 seconds in brush or camouflage, or Senna's E - Curse of the Black Mist camouflage, consistently, rather than based on a 0.3-0.45 second timer, while the leap range has been slightly increased to offset variability.
- Rengar now has a Ferocity resource bar that indicates how much Ferocity he currently has, as stacks generated by leaps will have a different color so you'll know if you'll gain Ferocity on your next leap.
- Stacks now fall off 10 seconds when out of combat, while the Bonetooth necklace takes 3 seconds from damaging an enemy champion.
- Q - Savagery:
- Rengar's Q-empowered basic attack is now always a critical strike. Instead of regular critical strike damage, each 1% critical strike chance increases this empowered attack's damage by 0.66%, or 0.99% with Infinity Edge's Perfection passive,
- Savagery now also applies to basic attacks against towers, while it no longer applies against plants.
- E - Bola Strike:
- Rengar can now throw his E, with zero cast time, during leaps, and it also grants true sight and normal vision 150 units around enemies hit for 2 seconds.
- R - Thrill of the Hunt:
- Now grants not only true sight, but also normal vision of 100 units around the nearest enemy.
Illaoi Changes in Patch 12.6
Unlike Rengar, who got majorly buffed under the pretense of adjustment, Illaoi changes are geared towards taking care f the various bugs that crop up regarding her tentacles, giving the champion more control over them, which is supposed to be part of her kit anyway.
- R - Leap of Faith: now casts with Illaoi facing toward your cursor, allowing for more favorable Tentacle spawn locations,
- When Illaoi attacks a Vessel while empowered by W - Harsh Lesson, nearby inactive Tentacles will now slam her target as soon as they become active, with the short delay removed,
- Spell queueing has been added to W - Harsh Lesson and R - Leap of Faith, so you can now buffer other spells while casting them,
- W - Harsh Lesson's visual indicators have been fixed and will show the correct range of her empowered basic attacks,
- Tentacles can no longer spawn on either team's base gates on Summoner's Rift,
- Vessels no longer contribute to Illaoi's creep score when they expire or are destroyed,
- Q - Tentacle Smash and E - Test of Spirit will now be visible to nearby enemy champions when cast from Fog of War.
Mythic Content Overhaul in Patch 12.6
The Gemstones and Prestige Points are now combined into a single new currency that never expires, called Mythic Essence. Mythic Essence is obtained everywhere Gemstones or Prestige Points were previously earned. You can spend Mythic Essence in the Mythic Shop for everything previously bought by the two removed currencies.
All players received a one-time mission on March 31, 2022, that rewards 10 Mythic Essence to celebrate the launch of this, new, system. This mission will expire on May 2, 2022. Additionally, all Gemstones have been converted into Mythic Essence, with the conversion rate being 10 ME for one Gemstone.
- Besides the already known rotation regarding the Ashen Knight theme, Riot have also unvaulted the following skins for the next six months:
- Prestige Arcanist Zoe - 125 ME,
- Prestige Spirit Blossom Teemo - 125 ME,
- Prestige Battle Queen Diana - 125 ME,
- Prestige PROJECT: Irelia - 150 ME,
- Prestige Pulsefire Thresh - 150 ME,
- Prestige K/DA Kai'Sa - 200 ME.
What Skins Were Released in patch 12.6?
Five champions have received the Battle Bunny skin line in patch 12.6, with Jinx even receiving a Prestige version of the skin, no less:
- Battle Bunny Prime Riven
- Battle Bunny Miss Fortune
- Battle Bat Vayne
- Battle Bat Syslas
- Battle Cat Jinx
- Prestige Battle Cat Jinx
It seems that even when joining a cute skin line, champions as badass as Vayne and Sylas have to get some cool animals to go along with their theme, such as bats, compared to bunnies and kitties.
Aside from the Battle Bunny skin line, Pyke is getting a skin that, unlike the one for the Rise of the Sentinels, is actually fitting with his theme. That, of course, being Ashen Knight Pyke.
