LoL Patch 14.12: Riot Will Finally Nerf One Of The Most Toxic Mid Laners
Riot is making some major changes in the upcoming LoL Patch 14.12 and one of them is to quite an annoying OP champion in the mid lane right now.
LoL Patch 14.12 is just a few days away and while we are getting a new mythic shop rotation, including a brand-new mythic skin for Xerath, there are also a multitude of balance changes that are hitting Summoner's Rift. Thankfully, we can see what Riot has planned thanks to the Public Beta Environment.
While there are quite a few buffs for champions like Ezreal, Nilah and Yuumi, there are also some huge nerfs and one of them is a pretty harsh one to none other than Akali.
LoL Patch 14.12: Akali Receiving Major Nerfs
Akali has become one of the best mid laners in the game right now. Through various buffs and bug fixes throughout Season 13 and the first half of Season 14, she's become a prime pick, not only in high elo and pro play, but also in regular play. She currently sits at a solid 51% win rate according to op.gg.
Riot Phroxzon, the lead gameplay designer on League of Legends, wrote on Twitter that Akali has become much easier to play on all levels thanks to a bunch of adjustments the team has made throughout the years and therefore, she is also a viable pick in lower elos.
[...] our anti-Pro/Elite skew work done on Akali to make her easier to play in recent years has been pretty effective to the point that she's actually as equally potent in normal play as she is in the higher skill brackets.
So, in LoL Patch 14.12 the balance team is going to be nerfing her E – Shuriken flip, reducing the damage drastically for both her E1 and her E2 dash. This is a change that is supposed to impact her low elo play but keep her high elo viability intact.
The community on Reddit believes that this is a decent change for the champion and that anyone who manages to land her combos after level 6 won't be impacted too much anyway. Her E was never a main damage ability and one to spam, so it doesn't feel too bad for players, but should mean she is going to be a tad weaker, which could impact her high win rate.
