The League of Legends MMO is currently in the works and while there were some worries that the game might not even be made at one point, but it seems to be all smooth sailing right now, with all the slight hints we've been getting from Greg Street on Twitter lately.

Recently, YouTuber Necrit made a video in which he went over the lore of Runeterra and the world itself, with Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street, EP of MMO project at Riot Games, merely reweeted the video stating "I can confirm or deny nothing, but I can help Necrit's viewer count".

Legends of Runeterra Helped Flesh out The World of League of Legends

Thanks to the card game Legends of Runeterra a lot more characters, as well as societies have been introduced, showing off just how multicultural Runeterra really is. In LoR we also have much more LGBTQIA+ representation than in League of Legends itself since it's easier to write and change the characters stories for regions where they might not be as accepted.

This makes LoR very refreshing for players, since they actually get to learn about the continents, the people and everyone living in the world of League of Legends. Oh, and that they can actually ahve some god damn representation, right? That's why, the MMO team will take heavy inspiration from the card game while creating the world from a  narrative perspective as well.

One person on Twitter stated how much fun it is to see the world of Runeterra through the cards and that it has made them more excited for the upcoming Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Greg Street answered the tweet, merely stating that the MMO owes a lot to LoR

Hopefully Riot also includes some of these JoJo references into the MMO:

So, if you're a fan of lore, then you should also be happy to know that the MMO will be canon, so what happens and is being done there will also play a part in the actual world of Runeterra. Are you ready guys? Even Greg Street is hyped, stating in one tweet that he can't wait for this MMO. Which race will you be playing as?
