League of Legends: Quickplay Matchmaking Frustrates Players
Some League of Legends players are sick and tired of the matchmaking in Quickplay, but will Riot ever fix these issues?
Quickplay is new to League of Legends, introduced in season 14, replacing blind pick. The idea of Quickplay is great, and should give players a chance to hop in and out of games when they don't have much time. Players choose their champions and roles beforehand, skipping the whole champion pick and ban phase.
Unfortunately, it seems that the matchmaking for Quickplay has suffered quite a bit and players are noticing how they've been put into bad match ups. So, what exactly is the problem with Quickplay in League of Legends?
League of Legends: Quickplay Faces Matchmaking Issues
Recently, a post on Reddit went viral in which a fairly new player expressed their dissatisfaction with the Quickplay matchmaking. They explained that while they've been practicing, many of their opponents either don't take the game seriously or just don't play at all, resulting in unfair situations and undeserved wins.
Other players also chimed in, explaining that, as new players, they've also encountered lobbies filled with Gold and Silver players in Quickplay who will simply dunk on all the new players trying to learn the game, which causes quite awful situations for players. It seems that matchmaking and the role system in Quickplay are to blame for these issues.
Some players believe that having to choose a priority role is part of the reason why players might just run it down or not play at all. Since most of the time the priority queue role, which has to be picked in Quickplay as well, is either Support or Jungle, some players get autofilled into these undesirable roles and then just decide not to play properly.
This could be one of the reasons why players encounter bad teammates or opponents. The fact that Quickplay is also the "least serious" of all queue forms means that many players don't really care when they play the game mode.
Also, when players are suspended from ranked, they need to play other games on Summoner's Rift before being let back to the ranked grind and many players, to get their suspension over as quick as possible, choose Quickplay. Of course, they'd rather be playing ranked and thus don't really care about their KDA or starts in an unranked match.
So, will Riot try and do something about Quickplay in the future, or will they ignore it? With Swarm and Arena running right now, it might be hard for the team to keep an eye on Quickplay as well, so don't expect changes made anytime soon.
