Briar: Everything We Know About The Next LoL Champion
The newest champion to grace Summoner's Rift in League of Legends is going to be none other than Briar. A new female jungler is going to enter the rift very soon and while there have been some leaked assets, fans are more excited than ever to play her.
Riot is going to be adding a new female jungler to the list of champions in League of Legends. Vi, Elise and Evelynn won't be so lonely anymore, eh? But, what do we know about Briar so far?
Briar: New LoL Champion's Lore
What do we know about Briar's lore so far? Well, a lot, actually. According to the very long article by Riot Games about the background of Briar, she hails from Noxus where she was created by an Assassin Group, called "The Black Rose" as some sort of living weapon.
For her creation the group used the dark powers of hemomancy, also known as blood magic. Surely you understand now why she's seen as a vampire like champion. And as such, she needs to consume blood to fuel herself.
In the process of her creation the Black Rose made her sentient, so she could understand orders, and to make her the deadliest weapon in their arsenal, they also gave her a frenzied state. Which led her to fall into a bloodthirsty rage, killing everything that cross her path while hunting for blood.

As you can imagine, this might not be the best mixture for a silent and fast-killing Assassin group, and so she failed her first two missions. During the second one she was captured by Swain and put in jail. There she was contained by a hemolith, a magical device that allowed her to think clearly and stay calm.
Without this magical device, she falls back into the blood frenzied state.
League of Legends: Briar's Abilities
Briar's abilities revolve around her vampire features, so they work with HP and her HP pool in general. She possesses some get-closer abilities in her kit and will be a pain to take on in a direct duel.
These are Briar's abilities:
Passive - Crimson Curse
"Briar gains increased Healing based on her missing health and her attacks and abilities apply a bleed for a short duration that stacks. The bleed deals physical damage based on the number of stacks and Heals Briar for a percentage of the pre-mitigation damage. Briar has no base health regeneration and her abilities cost health to cast."
Q - Head Rush
"Briar leaps to a target, Stunning them for a short duration, dealing physical damage, and reducing their armor. Briar will stop prioritizing champions if she casts this Ability on a minion or monster during Blood Frenzy."

W - Blood Frenzy/Snack Attack
"Briar leaps to a location and enters a Blood Frenzy, self taunting the nearest enemy (prioritizing champions) for a period of time. While in Blood Frenzy she gains Attack Speed and Move Speed and her attacks now deal physical damage around the main target.
Briar can Recast this ability to empower her next attack. It deals missing health physical damage and heals Briar for a large percentage of the damage dealt."
E - Chilling Scream
Begin Charging: Briar removes Blood Frenzy and gathers energy, gaining damage reduction and restoring health
Release: Briar unleashes a scream that deals damage based on time charged and Slows for a short duration. When fully charged the scream knocks back, dealing additional damage to enemies that hit a wall and Stunning them.
R - Certain Death
Briar kicks a hemolith and flies to the location of the first champion hit, marking them as her prey. On landing, she deals a large amount of physical damage to everything nearby and causes nearby enemies to Flee. She then enters an empowered Blood Frenzy and will pursue her prey until one of them dies.
During this time she gains Armor, Magic Resist, and additional Move Speed.
When Will Briar Be Released In League of Legends?
If everything works and goes as planned, Briar will be introduced to League of Legends with the implementation of LoL Patch 13.18. Since LoL Patch 13.17 was just released recently we will have two wait 2 more weeks until the big release.
According to the company patch schedule, LoL Patch 13.18 will be released on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
As usual, the first skin for the new champion will be released at the same time. Briar's first skin is part of the newly introduced Street Demon skin line, which also comes with LoL Patch 13.18
