Yuumi Continues To Be A Problem In League of Legends

No champion in League of Legends is as controversial as Yuumi. She's been around for a long time and has made her presence, especially in professional League of Legends, known for the last two years.

Recently, Riot decided to give her a big rework, which was supposed to keep her out of professional play. But the Summer Split hasn't even gotten into full swing yet in most regions and she's already become one of the most annoying champions in League once more.

League of Legends: Yuumi's Rework Was A Huge Failure

Yuumi's rework took any and all playmaking and skill expression out of her kit, turning her into a shield and heal bot on the back of her best friend. The balance team stated that Yuumi should be an easy to play champion for beginners to see what League of Legends is all about.

Well, it seems that the champion has fallen into the hands of the complete opposite demographic though. Instead of being the go-to champion for noobs, it's the most popular (or one of the most popular) champions in professional League of Legends.

The LCK kicked off their Summer Split recently and Yuumi is one of three champions with a 100% presence rate throughout the region. In 26 games she was picked 18 times and banned the 8 other times.

While the LPL has been playing longer, there Yuumi holds a 43% presence rate with a whopping 75% win rate as well. So, while she isn't as high prio as in Korea, she is a pick with whom professional players can win.

This just goes to show that the rework, which was inteded to remove her from professional play was completely useless. Sure, she wasn't played at the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational, but that was simply because Riot disabled her for the month long tournament.

Now that she is once again enabled, players are jumping at the chance to play this champ since she offers great safety. Her untargetability makes her one of the best champions in the game.

While enchanters, the class she belongs to, are supposed to be squishy and immobile, she's got the big plus of being untargetable once she hops on her allies back and therefore can safely heal and shield her team members.

The LEC and LCS will kick off their Summer Splits this week so we're going to have to see whether Yuumi takes on such high prio as well in the west.
