5. Samsung White vs Star Horn Royal Club, Worlds 2014: Despite not coming as the LCK's first seed, Samsung White were a powerhouse in the playoffs. They took down TSM and their senior sister team Samsung Blue. In the final, they faced Star Horn Royal Club, the last LPL hope, led by Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao’s. The LCK team started strong in game one and despite a hairier start to the second game brought it home with great roams by Cho "Mata" Se-hyeong on Janna. Yet when all had written them out, SHR took the third game with scrappy teamfighting. They even got a good early start in game four, but when they overreached in a bot lane tower dive, SSW took the lead and did not let go (© Riot Games).

4. SKT T1 vs KOO Tigers, Worlds 2015: SKT did not make it to Worlds 2014, but when they returned, they were back with a vengeance, going 12-0 until the finals. There, a scrappy KOO Tigers stood in wait after taking down KT Rolster and Fnatic. SKT T1 did not really get challenged in the opening game, but in the next two found that the Tigers were here to play. T1 turned game 2 around, but were defeated in the third. However, a standout performance by Faker on Ryze won game four and Worlds for SKT T1 (© Riot Games).

3. Taipei Assassins vs Azubu Frost, Season 2 Worlds: if ever there was a dark horse team in the playoffs, it was TPA in 2012. After little fanfare, they got to the finals with two big victories against Najin Sword and Moscow5. Azubu, meanwhile, were among the first teams to hint at Korea's dominance, defeating TSM and CLG.EU . They would even take the first game of the finals - but then, TPA struck back, led by mid laner Lau "Kurtis" "Toyz" Wai Kin. They fought their way to a 3-1 victory and the championship. No LMS team would ever get close to the cup, but their fame as the scrappy underdogs and Korean killers would endure (© Riot Games).

2. Suning Gaming vs DAMWON, Worlds 2020: Last year's Worlds offered us quite a treat for the final. After a lackluster performance in the LPL, confidence in Suning wasn't quite high - but then they defeated G2 Esports to take first place in the groups, before taking out JD Gaming and Top Esports on their way to the final. Meanwhile, DAMWON topped their group and defeated DRX and their LEC rivals G2 Esports. In the finals, the two teams offered us several close fights - and while Suning only took the third game home, they fought hard in all games (© Riot Games).

1. SKT T1 vs Samsung Galaxy, Worlds 2016: SKT T1 looked shaky on the way, but they managed to make it to Worlds as the first time a reigning champion attended the event to defend their title. Samsung, meanwhile, took the last LCK seed after a series of close fights in the regional final, then fought through two western teams to make it to the finals. T1 were the big favorites and after two quick wins looked ready to head home - but then Samsung turned it on and the magic happened.
