Encountering accounts that are obviously bought is kinda normal nowadays. But is it even legal to buy or sell accounts in League of Legends?
LoL Account Buying & Selling: Is It Legal?
Account buying and selling is something that some might consider an issue. Is it legal to do this though?
League of Legends is a game that requires a lot of commitment and time. Especially, the leveling process can be exhausting, even for experienced players. So some people just buy their smurf accounts on the many websites, which offer them. But is it legal to buy or sell accounts in LoL?
Account Trading: Is It Legal?
I bet every player that has spent some time in League of Legends has already encountered at least one "suspicious" account. You can sometimes spot bought accounts by their weird names, or the fact that all the played games are just ARAMS.
Sadly, it's true, that many people are tending to buy an account rather than leveling up one of their own. Another reason to buy an account might be to get their hands on rare skins that they couldn't purchase anymore on their own account.
And some people just want to have smurfs, to destroy lower level players or rookies in ranked games. Maybe you have noticed that low elo accounts can be much more expensive than high elo ones. As you can see, there are several reasons why people want to buy accounts.
Well, regarding the trading of Accounts, Riot has made a clear statement:
Account trading is an illegal practice in which everyone loses, both the buyer and the seller. The reason is simple: since it goes against our Terms of Use, and threatens the entire community, the account is eventually suspended.
As stated by the company, the entire trade – both buying and selling a Riot Account – is strictly prohibited. So, you better be careful while buying one, the account could get banned right away.
In their terms of service, Riot gets very clear about the handling of Riot Games accounts:
- You must not share your account or login information with anyone
- You must not sell, transfer, or allow other persons to access your account or offer it for sale
- You must keep your login information confidential
As you can see, buying or selling an account is against all of these three rules. So, we advise you to just not do it. Think about all the time and effort you put into your account. It's simply not worth the risk to lose your account by selling. And it's not worth investing into a bought account, when you could lose him anytime.
