Is it finally time for another LCS legend to retire? Jensen delivered some brutally honest news to fans last night during his twitch stream, and honestly we're not sure what to make of it.

Will Jensen Retire in 2022?

Last night during a solo queue live stream, Team Liquid's Mid Laner, Jensen aired some doubts about the upcoming 2022 LCS Season. In the clip, he shares that he's unsure whether he will return as a starting player next season.

Jensen on his 2022 Plans

Jensen did state in the clip that he doesn't plan to retire, but fans might not get many more opportunities to see the 26 year old in professional play.

Why won't Jensen start in 2022?

Earlier this week, we covered rumors from Travis Gafford about the 2022 LCS Roster for Team Liquid. It's been rumored that Doublelift and Bjergsen are both considering making comebacks to the LCS. This is likely the reason why Jensen is worried about his spot.

The projected 2022 Team Liquid Roster includes:

  • Bwipo
  • Santorin
  • Bjergsen
  • Hans Sama
  • CoreJJ

It's worthy to note that Gafford described this roster as a 'done deal', but it is contingent upon the green card process going without issue for CoreJJ.

Will Team Liquid sell Jensen in 2022?

Unfortunately for Jensen, he signed what was reported as a 3-year $4.2 million dollar extension contract back in 2020 with Team Liquid after success at Worlds. Jensen has been on Team Liquid since 2018, but he might not have an opportunity to leave for greener-pastures since his buyout is likely large. Jensen most recently failed to advance past Group Stage at Worlds 2021

With all of this in mind, it's entirely possible that Jensen will remain an expensive substitute or academy player for Team Liquid in 2022. There aren't many teams in a position to spend so much money to purchase a mid laner, so a buyout seems unlikely - Especially for a player with Jensen's price tag and expected performance.

Here at Riftfeed, we're hoping this isn't how it all ends for this legendary player but we'll have to wait and see how things develop for next season.
