How To Change To A Language Not Available In Your Region?
If the language you want to play in is unavailable to your client but you still want to change it, here are some steps to follow. It is important to note that this way of changing your language is not officially supported by Riot and requires you to tamper with your League of Legends files. This means it is not foolproof, and you must know what you are doing before getting started.
Step 1: Log in to Your Client
Log in to your Riot Client like you usually would when starting to play the game.
Step 2: Close the Client
Close the client without signing out.
Step 3: Go into your League League of Legends/Config Folder
Step 4: Open your LeagueClientSettings.yaml File in a Text Editor
Once you are into the config folder, a Yaml Source File with the name “LeagueClientSettings” should appear. Right-click on the file, and press “Open with.” Then, choose your preferred text editor.
Step 5: Replace the Text in the Locale Line With the Corresponding Language Value belonging to Your Preferred Language.
The table below shows a list of all the locales available for the different languages. You want to locate the line starting with “locale:” and replace it with the locale fitting to your language. In the table below, you can find all the different locals available.
Step 6: Save the Changes in Your Text Editor
Once you have changed the locale to fit your preferred language, make sure to save it before closing the text editor.
Step 7: Go Back to Your League Of Legends Executable App and Create a Desktop Shortcut
Once you have located your League of Legends executable app, right-click on the icon and select “Send to”> “Desktop (create shortcut).”
Step 8: Right Click on the Newly Created Shortcut and Select “Properties”
Step 9: Change “Target” Language Code
Once you are in the LoL Surtcut’s Properties, go to the text box named “Target:” and change your Language code (“locale=xxxx”) to fit your corresponding language locale. If there is no language code available, you can add it by typing “-locale=xxxx” without quotation marks. “xxxx” acts as a placeholder here, and you should replace it with your wanted language’s locale code (check the table below). In our example, we have set the language to Chinese by typing “-locale=zh_CN.”
Step 10: Apply changes
Once step 9 is done, you want to make sure to click “Apply Changes” for your changes to be added to the game.
Step 11: Open LoL through your newly added Shortcut
With the new changes applied, you should be able to enjoy League of Legends in your new preferred language. Make sure to open LoL from the newly added shortcut and not from the original LoL application.

Riot Announces Easier Way to Change Language
During the somewhat failed start to Season 13, Riot did make one nice announcement, which was related to the upcoming way to change language in League of Legends. They will be working on the client to enable players to have any language they want available.
When this feature will be ready was not announced, but we could expect it later in 2023. Then you won't need to follow all those complicated steps above anymore.
