Who would have seen this coming when the League of Legends World Championship came to an end, right? Gen.G is going to part ways with an integral part of their team, the one player who has kept the team together for years. What will the squad look like in 2023 though?

On November 10, 2022 Gen.G announced the departure of long time ADC Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk. He will enter the LCK free agency this November to explore his options for the future. Where could the star ADC go though?

LoL: Ruler and Gen.G Part Ways for LCK 2023 Season

Ruler started his LCK career on Samsung back in 2016. He has been loyal to the team through all the changes of the last 6-years, playing under the KSV banner when the team was bought by the KSV group, and eventually being renamed Gen.G.

He has won the League of Legends World Championship in 2017 with Samsung, managed to hoist the LCK trophy this year as well and throughout his time on the team he's put up numbers that can hardly be rivalled in terms of kills and damage output.

Now, an era will end with Gen.G and Ruler parting ways ahead of the 2023 LCK season. Ruler will explore his options as a free agent this year. Where he could end up is not yet known so we will have to keep an eye on the rumour mill for now.

Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G has stated on Twitter that they had the option to extend his contract, but Ruler asked to become a free agent this off season. "I knew there’s no way we would stand in his way. He has proven himself with the team every step of the way, and I respect and admire his desire to take the next step in his incredible career."

New Bot Laner Already Decided by Gen.G

While some of you might have been thinking that players like Viper could be coming to the team to cap off the return of all the Griffin players of 2019, but it seems like Gen.G have decided something else for the 2023 LCK season.

Instead of buying a big name, the team will call up Gen.G Peyz who has gone through the teams Academy system to play in the Challengers league in 2022. The player will turn 17 on December 5, 2022 so he will be eligible to play in the LCK. With a support like Lehends by his side to lead him, he could grow to be a great ADC in the LCK.
