I mean, if there is a wildly successful mobile version, why not?
League of Legends on Xbox - Can You play It
Recently confusion has spread through the fans of Xbox, due to seeing their friends listed as playing League of Legends on their Xbox friends list. So, can it be done?
After all, Riot Games are well-known for branching out from its roots in all directions, gaming and otherwise. Have they breached the console market already?
Can You Play League of Legends on Xbox?
At the end of 2022, Riot Games announced their partnership with Xbox, by adding League of Legends to the list of Xbox Game Pass games and offering all sorts of goodies to those that take part.
This has, in turn, caused quite the confusion. Currently, all of Riot's multiplayer games can be found on the Xbox Game Pass list, so does that mean that League of Legends is coming to Xbox as well?
Add to that the fact that seeing your Xbox friends list filled with friends trying out League of Legends, would make you all but certain that it is indeed possible, and are now trying to find a way how.
Unfortunately, League of Legends cannot be played on Xbox, nor is there any concrete evidence of Riot Games trying to port the game to consoles in the future.
Why is LoL Not Available on Consoles Yet?
The fact that LoL is not available on consoles yet is certainly a shame since they've proven that League of Legends can be successfully ported to other devices, with Wild Rift's incredible success. But, who ports a PC game to mobile devices, before doing so for consoles anyway?
Unless, of course, you're owned by a company in a country with a lot of mobile gamers, like China, and for years now you've been focusing your game design for that market.
It would not be the first time that Riot's focus on China, which, admittedly, makes sense from a pure business perspective, due to the amount of LoL players in that region, and that is what every company realistically looks at, does seem to close some avenues for League of Legends to spread to other communities, or is even outright damaging.
We can easily remember the issues high-profile League of Legends streamers have had with players inting their games, especially Faker, due to illegal Chinese gambling websites, or the Udyr rework that was almost released as an abomination of the promised look.
And seeing as the US alone makes up 52% of the console gaming consumers, maybe the LCS would not be dying if League of Legends was allowed to move towards this market of players. All we're saying is, it definitely couldn't hurt!
