A derby as old as time itself - EU vs NA - there can only be one? Nope! Riot sees it a little differently. After moving LoL Worlds 2021 to Europe this year due to visa and travel issues, it's simply NA's turn next year. Riot Games have now confirmed that both the Mid-Season Invitational MSI and the Worlds will be coming to North America in 2022.

MSI in NRG Stadium
The announcement about the MSI reached us on 28 August via the official LCS Twitter account: The league's second largest international event will be held at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The venue, formerly called Reliant Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium used for NFL games, many US National Team football games, concerts, rodeo shows and other events. It seats more than 72,000 people. So now all that's left is for COVID to play along. So stay outside... You get the idea.
Such welcome news will hopefully cheer up the NA fans among you. After the LCS final could not take place at the Prudential Center in Newark as usual due to the current situation...
Worlds Tour 2022 featuring multiple cities
Chris Greeley, Riot's Head of League Operations for the LCS also announced in an interview with Travis Gafford that LoL Worlds 2022 will take place in NA. Greeley explained that a tour of various cities is planned - similar to what was originally scheduled to take place in China this year.
At the end of the day, of course, it comes down to our best friend, the pandemic, again. Let's just hope that everything goes well and NA really turns up the heat next year. Then the fans will finally have something to celebrate!
