Only one team is eliminated from playoffs contention
Mad Lions are the First Team Locked for LEC Summer Playoffs 2022
Week seven of LEC summer split is over, and we only have one week left before the playoffs begin. Even though we are so close to the end of the regular season, MAD Lions are now the first and only team locked for LEC Summer playoffs 2022.
Despite losing both their games last weekend against Rogue and Misfits, MAD Lions are the first team to secure a spot for the LEC Summer playoffs 2022. Week seven ended with a four-way tie for second place and a three-way tie for sixth, making the regular season standings closer than ever. The only team eliminated from the playoffs contention at this point is Team BDS. Every other team has a chance to make it and every game counts.
MAD Lions might have secured their spot for playoffs, but they still are not locked for the top seed in the regular season. If you are the top performing team in the LEC before playoffs, you will have an advantage for the start of playoffs. Not only will you be in the winner's bracket along with the other top four teams, which gives you double elimination, but you get to choose to play your first match against either the third or the fourth place team.

Last year MAD Lions were at their strongest as the team managed to win the LEC Summer Split 2021. The split after their victory was not as convincing, however. One would assume that the team could somewhat uphold their performance for one more split, but for the LEC spring split 2022, MAD ended in seventh place, not even making it to playoffs. This year, they seem to be back on track as they are the first team to lock in for LEC Summer playoffs 2022.
Even though they are now in first place, MAD Lions are on a two-game losing streak, and it will be exciting to see if they will manage to assert their dominance when they meet one of the four-way tied second-place teams, G2 Esports, this Friday.
