MSI 2024 Format Explained: This Is How Teams Make It To The Finals
Ever since MSI 2023, the format for the tournament has changed and can be quite tricky to understand. But do not worry as we have a quick explanation on how it works.
MSI 2024 is right around the corner and I cannot wait for the fantastic matches. It will be quite interesting to see which team will rise to the top of the competition.
But how do teams actually make it to the finals? The format can be quite tricky to understand so we are here to explain it all.
MSI 2024: How The Format Works
MSI 2024 will be divided into the Play-In Stage and the Bracket Stage.
Play-Ins
The Play-In Stage features 8 teams that will be split into the Group A and B. Each of these Groups will play double elimination best-of-three's.
The winners of the first best-of-three play against each other and the winner of those games will advance towards bracket stage.
The losing team gets put into a losers bracket. Those who lost their first series have to battle against the other losing team and the winner of that series will play against the loser of the bracket qualification series.
The two winners of the losers bracket then play against each other in the loser's final for the last spot to the Bracket Stage.
Bracket Stage
This is the place where the three Play-In Winners come together with the other five teams that qualified through various earlier tournaments. This is still double-elimination.
All of these matches are best-of-fives. Those who lose in the semi-final have a chance to beat the winners of the losers bracket to get back into the final.
The Final
The final needs no explanation. It's the best of the best dueling it out in a heart-breaking, gut-wrenching best-of-five to see who will be the MSI 2024 Champion.
Do you like this format? Honestly, it's the best format there is and if you say otherwise you are probably wrong. Also, I hope T1 wins. What about you?
