By now we all know it. The so to speak preseason business is about to happen. Riot Games will tackle our beloved Summoner's Rift and turn it upside down. Preseason 2022 is no exception. Today's topic are two of the many new features coming to League of Legends: Progression crystals and challenges. Both will be tested in preseason and certainly implemented in Season 12.

Are you still in thoughts of Season 11? Need some help to get the gold rewards? Then we have the perfect content for you here:

Preseason 2022 - League of Legends Progression Crystals

One new feature are the progression crystals. In League, there are several ways to show who you are as a player: Icons, rank, champions, your name of course and the prestige border in lobbies. Riot summarizes all this as progression identity. With Preseason 2022 and season 12, Riot adds another option to individualize yourselves.

The concept of progression crystals goes hand in hand with that of the challenges, but later to that. Depending on how many achievement points you have earned through challenges, one of the progression crystals from the picture below will adorn your profile. You can get these points for every finished challenge. These points will be added to your progression account.

Preseason 2022 - League of Legends Challenges

Riot have set themselves following goals. And the challenge system should play an important role:

  • Players can track their general mastery and investment in League of Legends
  • Players can visualize and compare a variety of League accomplishments
  • Players have many different types of challenges and accomplishments to progress and strive towards

Riot is well aware, that not every players plays League of Legends just to rank up or show off with their division. There are other brackets aswell, aye? The challenges will be aiming at all game modes and offer options to individualize even more. Everyone loves to compare themself. It is amazing to see if you're better than your friends, isn't it? That's what the Season 12 challenges are for. In the official thread Riot games stated it this way:

Not much of a Ranked player, but love collecting skins and champions? Are you amazing at CSing, but leave the kills to teammates? Or maybe you're known for being the ultimate skillshot dodger? Challenges let you personalize and show off the exact type of player you are.

We love the idea behind the challenges. Our reasons to play league couldn't be more different.ood idea and Riot creates more possibilities to keep the community happy and busy in a simple way. The profile becomes more and more personalized, and hardly one will be the same as another. In addition, every player gets the feeling of being unique.

Here's a first glimps at one of the challenges:

Riot have also confirmed that they are working on a way to integrate champion banners into the game and the lobbies. Personalizing on a champions basis is very important for the team, they stated.
