The Star Guardian event was maybe not Riot Games' biggest success this year. However, some good news did come out of the event, as Riot Games reveals they raised 6 Million Dollars for the Riot Social Impact Fund from the Star Guardian Taliyah skin.

This year, Riot Games decided to bring back the beloved Star Guardian skin line, but this time, they went big... Riot Games created one of their biggest in-game events yet, with several skins, a music video, and a whole new storyline the players could follow.

This was supposed to be Riot Games' big hit of the year, but in the end, it turned out to be a total flop. Players did not receive their rewards even though they purchased the event pass, and when it was time to redeem the event tokens, Riot Games took them away too early to prepare for the next event in line.

But it was not all bad. Along with the Star Guardian event, it was revealed that all the proceeds of the Star Guardian Taliyah skin would go to the Riot fund if players purchased the skin between July 28 to August 29, 2022. This meant that players got the chance to get a new skin while also doing something good.

On October 5, 2022, we got the final number of how much was earned from the Taliyah skin, and Riot Games could reveal that players had raised a total of 6 million dollars

What Is the Riot Social Impact Fund?

The RIot Social Impact fund is an entity independent of the Riot Games developer and publisher working on solving problems in their community. The fund has previously raised money for charitable organizations, such as Red Cross and GlobalGiving

A similar project to Star Guardian Taliyah was done with Dark Star Cho'Gath. The skin was made after Bryan, a League player who visited Riot in 2017 through The Make-A-Wish Foundation, wanted Riot to make a skin for his main champion, Cho'Gath.  All the proceeds of the skin would go to GlobalGiving, and in total, players raised over 6.1 million dollars.

Will Riot Games Do Similar Things in the Future?

With Riot's recent success in raising money with various skins, it is not unlikely that Riot Games will do something similar in the future.

Who knows, maybe we will see even bigger charity events, not only focusing on the proceeds of one skin. I, for one, would love to see our sweetheart Braum be part of something similar in the future.

Which champion do you think is fit for charity?
