The LEC is coming to France

The LEC is coming to France for the first time since 2017! Riot just announced their plans for the LEC finals in 2023 and are even giving fans an early heads-up when the event will even take place. So for any LEC fans in France, this is your lucky year.

With the changes to the LEC format this year, Riot will only host one big offline event, which is going to be held in Southern France this year, as Riot revealed during the kickoff LEC weekend.

Montpellier Named Host City for LEC Finals 2023

The LEC finals are heading South to Montpellier as per Riot. The event will take place in the Sud de France Arena. With the LFL being one of the biggest ERL's and the French fan base tuning in to the LEC consistently, this is surely going to be one exciting event.

Alberto Guerrero, Head of Esports, EMEA at Riot Games stated that this "will be the biggest event in the Riot Esports EMEA calendar" and will bring together the entire EMEA region. He also added on that this will be the first time since 2017, when the league was still known as the EULCS, that the LEC is going to be heading back to France.

With such a large and spirited LoL Esports fan base in France, we’re delighted to bring our roadshow back to the country for the first time since 2017, by hosting our showpiece event in Montpellier in the Occitanie region

Not only is Montpellier a huge esports and gaming hub, according to Carole Delga, the President of the Occitanie Region, but it's also home to a part of the "Arcane" production team from Fortiche, which could mean that we could get some more information on the second season when the event takes place.

The LEC is back on the road, with a successful event in Summer 2022 in Malmö Sweden, and now heading to France for 2023. This sense of normalcy has come back and we're excited to see which teams will represent the LEC at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship in South Korea.
