Riot Forge Boss Reveals He'd Love To Make A LoL Dating Sim
Riot Games has quite a few games under their name, many of which are set in the world of Runeterra. Two-years ago they also released games of other developers under the publisher Riot Forge, which would tell more stories in Runeterra but through different types of games.
Recently, the creative director of Riot Forge, Rowan Parker, revealed some insights into Riot Forge in an interview with gamedeveloper and how they choose to make games, as well as a tidbit of information on upcoming games. Will one of them be a dating sim?
Riot Forge: How They Choose Games
In the interview Parker revealed that games from Riot Forge are not "licensed games" and that they do not license the IP to other studio. Instead, the approach to making Riot Forge games and approaching studios is simply done after they play games and believe that style could work for the world of Runeterra.

You guys are making something that I was playing and really enjoyed, and it's a discussion of 'hey, would you guys be interested in working with the League of Legends IP and trying to innovate, grow, and build your studio, and make a really cool game I would really want to play in the world of League of Legends?
This means that a developer's games will inspire ideas for Riot Forge to come up with games that could work in that style and with the League of Legends IP.
Another key factor is that the game has to be good even if you don't factor in the League of Legends or Runeterra aspect. As an example he took their newest release Convergence, which would be a great platformer with time rewinding and exploration aspects, which are cool in and of itself without adding in any Riot champions.

One subject which was also brought up was the idea of dating sims. Will Riot Forge be working on one?

I would love a dating sim in the world of League of Legends. That would be amazing.
Of course, this doesn't mean we are going to be getting a dating sim in the world of Rueneterra anytime soon, but it would be a pretty nice game to have. Just imagine being able to romance your favorite character or have your ships come to life in a game, eh?
The next Riot Forge game that should be released this fall is going to be the adventure game set in the Freljord following Nunu and & Willump, which is being made by Tequila Works.
