LEC: "I'm Just Solo Killing" Abbedagge Slams "Weak" EU Mid Laners
This is not an assessment LEC fans and players will like: Excel's mid laner Felix 'Abbedagge' Braun considers EMEA's mid laners weak! When asked about his competition in a Euro League interview, he has voiced his concerns about the play style of his opponents.
Abbedagge has only recently returned to the LEC. After debuting with Schalke 04 Esports and competing with the German organization for two and a half years, he moved on to North America mid-2021 in a surprising move to 100 Thieves. His debut split in the LCS could not have gone any better, as the team went on to win the 2021 LCS Championship.

After two second places in the LCS in 2022 and two unsuccessful World Championship appearences, 100 Thieves shocked the LoL Esports community as they decided to replace Abbedagge and bot laner Ian Victor 'FBI' Huang with veterans Søren 'Bjergsen' Bjerg and Yiliang 'Doublelift' Peng. Abbedagge failed to find a team, so he returned to Germany as Excel Esports' substitute mid laner.
When the team ended up finishing in last place in both Winter and Spring Split, mid laner Vincent 'Vetheo' Berrié was benched and Abbedagge was promoted to the main team. Thanks to improvement within the team and a breath of fresh air thanks to Abbedagge and jungler Lee 'Peach' Min-gyu, Excel managed to turn their season around, reaching the summer playoffs finals and qualifying for the Season Finals.
"There Is No Pressure" – Abbedagge Not Happy About Gameplay Of LEC Mid Laners
"Even when I came back to start scrimming with Excel in spring [...], I was scrimming against people and like... there is no pressure [...] I'm just solokilling and I'm taking over these lanes... it doesn't feel like there's a challenge at all", the German explains. "I'm not saying that to [...] have ego, I wasn't very good either when I came in."

He further stated that the only mid laner he did not face in a scrim block in spring was G2 mid laner Rasmus 'Caps' Winther. However, Caps later proved to have his number when G2 beat Excel twice in the LEC summer playoffs.
Abbedagge and Excel Esports will fight for a place at the 2023 World Championship in the LEC Season Finals. They are starting their journey in the upper bracket, and their first opponent will be MAD Lions on Saturday, August 19 at 3:00 PM BST (7:00 AM PST).
