Round 3 of the 2023 LPL playoffs have come to an end. Both, Weibo Gaming and LNG failed to move onto the fourth round of the playoff. Two teams that finished in third and fourth place during the regular split were thwarted by the fifth and sixth place teams, kicking them out of the competition for the rest of Spring.

Starting in Round 4 of the LPL playoffs, the format features a double elimination bracket. Any teams that lose before then will have to wait until Summer for another chance to qualify for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship.

The LPL playoffs are some of the most exciting in all of esports. Thanks to the LPL's large cast of teams there are multiple chances for upsets to happen. The LEC, LCS and LCK only consist of 10-teams each, but the LPL encompasses 17-tems, with 10 making it into their playoffs.

League of Legends players love getting mad, but are they right to be pissed this time around?

Each year we see new teams rise and old giants fall. This year already, RNG lost in the second round of the playoffs to BiliBili Gaming, who also took down TheShy and Weibo Gaming, while OMG has managed to best both Top Esports and LNG Esports to make it to the fourth round.

What does this mean for MSI 2023? With two LPL teams making it to the event, we have four teams left in contention. JDG and EDG have yet to play any games in the LPL playoffs. Earning the second and first spot during the regular split meant that both teams would automatically qualify for the double elimination bracket.

With LNG losing in spectacular fashion to Oh My God, former EDG mid laner and LPL All-Pro mid of the 2023 Spring Split, Lee "Scout" Ye-chan will not be competing at MSI 2023. During the 2023 off-season he made the decision to leave EDG, a team he had been with for 6-years, and joined LNG.

Unfortunately, the move didn't pan out as he had hoped, with EDG still in the running for a spot at the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational, while scout and the rest of LNG have to watch from the outside.

The LPL playoffs will continue on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 with JD Gaming playing BiliBili Gaming. The winner will move onto the fifth round, while the loser drops into the bottom bracket to try and fight their way to the finals which will take place on April 15, 2023.
