The Worlds 2022 Schedule Is a Nightmare for European Fans
Worlds 2022 is about to start, and many fans are clearing their program in order to watch all their favorite games in the coming weeks. But for our European fans, the League of Legends Worlds schedule is an actual nightmare.
This year's League of Legends World Championship will take place in America, starting in Mexico City for Play-Ins, and the final will be in San Fransico. For Europeans, the final location is very unfortunate because most of the games will be played in the middle of the night.
Here is the schedule of the first day of Worlds 2022 Play-ins:
29 September, 22:00 (CEST) | Isurus vs. MAD Lions |
29 September, 23:00 (CEST) | Fnatic vs. Evil Geniuses |
30 September, 00:00 (CEST) | LOUD vs. Mega Bank Beyond Gaming |
30 September, 01:00 (CEST) | MAD Lions vs. DenizBank İstanbul Wildcats |
30 September, 02:00 (CEST) | The Chiefs vs. Fnatic |
30 September, 03:00 (CEST) | DetonatioN FocusMe vs. LOUD |
30 September, 04:00 (CEST) | SAIGON BUFFALO ESPORTS vs. DenizBank İstanbul Wildcats |
30 September, 05:00 (CEST) | DRX vs. Royal Never Give Up |
As we can see, the two first games in Worlds 2022 consist of European teams. This is likely on purpose, so the European fans don't have to stay up too late to watch their home teams compete in their first game in Play-Ins.
The day's final match is DRX vs. RNG, and it is bound to be one of the more exciting matches of the first day. In the last match, we will have our first sneak peek into the two most dominant regions in League of Legends, LCK and LPL.
If you happen to live in Europe and want to watch the LCK vs. LPL showdown, you either have to go to bed super late or get up very early, as the match will begin at around 05:00 (CEST).
Almost every game in Play-Ins will be played during night-time for Europeans, and we do not expect it to change for groups. So, if you are European and want to watch every game live, you have to be ready to turn your sleep schedule around for a while such that you don't have to miss anything.
However, if you want to keep your sanity throughout the whole thing, LoL Esports always offers a rebroadcast for fans in a different time zone. Additionally, VODs will be available after every game, so you don't have to miss a thing.
Even though the schedule is not optimal for the European fans this year, we understand that it can never be perfect for everyone when having this many regions competing against each other. We are, therefore, excited to see what the different regions have in store for us for the most important event in League of Legends.
