From nearly getting eliminated to taking the final in a dramatic 5-game series, Bilibili Gaming´s Yagao is our MVP of the Demacia Cup.

The Demacia Cup ended on Tuesday with a dramatic five-game series between Bilibili Gaming and ThunderTalk Gaming, a rematch of their best-of-three series in the second stage. While TT Gaming won their previous encounter and would have eliminated their opponents if not for the fact that Top Esports had to forfeit the tournament.

Yet BLG fought their way through Invictus Gaming and Royal Never Give Up to have their chance for revenge. In the final, TT came to match point with a 2-1 but BLG won both games afterwards to win the trophy. It was an amazing ride and for us, no one deserves the award more than BLG’s mid laner Zeng "Yagao" Qi.

Yagao himself is actually a very new addition to the Bilibili roster. He spent the better part of the last five years on JD Gaming, with which he played at Worlds 2022. There, his team advanced to the playoffs and knocked out LEC champion Rogue before falling 1-3 to T1 in the semifinals. After his contract expired, he signed on with Bilibili Gaming as part of their plan to strengthen the team for their 2023 season. The Demacia Cup was his first outing and in it, he was a big part of why the still-fresh BLG team won its three playoff series with only two losses in the final itself.

During the tournament, his most played champions were Taliyah and Galio, which he used to roam around the map and set up key plays to put BLG in the lead. However, he also had games on Ahri, Sindra, Ryze and Yasuo. Yagao made several clutch plays in the tournament, but the most impressive part was his consistency - he was a key factor in virtually every BLG win and had very few misplays. Just as impressively, he kept a KDA of at least 2 in all except two of his team’s games.
