Let's think, what are Riot planning for the future of League?
Jak'Sho the Protean May be Teasing a New Event
League of Legends has no shortage of events, new champions, and Easter Eggs, that either reference the things that inspired the developers, or act as teasers for upcoming updates.
The newest change, that Riot Games have not explained in any of their patch updates, or developer talks has something to do with Jak'Sho the Protean. So, let's dive into the theory.
Jak'Sho the Protean Easter Egg
While playing a League of Legends match, should any player on any team build Jak'Sho the Protean, a peculiar thing happens, as it was pointed out on Reddit, and later discussed.
During the ending animation of the match, a message will appear in the chat, that states " Jak'Sho has deemed PlayerName worthy and has absorbed their power!!".
At first, this text was considered to be the result of exploiting a bug by others, where players could send system messages into games. However, some industrious Redditors have dived into the mystery, and repeated the message for themselves, such as one "Pizzator".
Others, however, have found evidence that Riot Games have deliberately changed the typo found in the first few instances of the message showing up, proving that Riot Games are well aware of Jak'Sho having this effect.
What is Jak'Sho the Protean Teasing?
The last big teaser we had, that no one could figure out, was the calling card stating that we had a meeting with The Boss. Now we know that the Boss is Sett, and the calling card meant we'd get him for free upon release.
To do so, you needed to get 10 first bloods in-game, and then receive his calling card.
So, in a similar vein, we can deduce that Jak'Sho is either teasing a new champion or a new event. Seeing that we already got an Empress of the Void, and that Kai'Sa has been teased with a new, corrupted look, we are leaning toward the latter.
One running theory, though, is that the act of renaming Icathia's Endurance, into Jak'Sho the Protean was a deliberate move on Riot's part. After all, they knew in advance which items they will release, and we doubt they would decide on a name change on a whim, especially to an item that has an Easter Egg hidden within.
So, the theorist in question posits on Reddit, Jak'Sho will likely return back to Icathia's Endurance once he has absorbed enough, and either a new champion is released, or an event has begun.
This theory holds all the more merit, once you realize that Icathia is the land where Void made their first true foothold.
Whatever Riot has in store for us, we'll be satisfied, as long as it doesn't make Void into something that can get a K/DA skin.
