Wild Rift Makes Teemo Playable Champion

Throughout the years, Teemo has gotten a reputation as one of the most hated champions in League of Legends. Even though he often gets overshadowed by Yuumi in this day and age, it isn't rare to see both enemies and teammates spending noticeable time in a game complaining about the champion. However, now it looks like Wild Rift has made some changes to Teemo that make him way more enjoyable.

Since Wild Rift came out in 2020, the mobile game has started to diverge from League of Legends quite a bit. Not only is Wild Rift given exclusive skins, but they also have a new, clean-looking client and upgraded VFX for several champions. The fact that they can do it in the mobile game begs the question of why it isn't done in League of Legends already.

Wild Rift has also changed Teemo quite a bit, and many fans argue he has changed for the better. But what is different with Wild Rift Teemo and LoL Teemo that makes him so much better?

Wild Rift Teemo vs. League of Legends Teemo

The first thing different with WR Teemo compared to the normal version is that his original Toxic Shot (E) is now his passive and vice versa

To replace the former E, Teemo now has an "upgraded" version of his LoL passive called Guerilla Warfare, making him invisible after a brief delay. His invisibility is not removed while moving around and is no longer limited to bushes. He can now roam around freely without being noticed unless he is near an enemy champion or a turret, kind of like Evelynn.

His W has also gone through quite a remarkable change. Where in LoL, Teemo's active W  gives him some additional Movement Speed, his Wild Rift W gives him a tumble, similar to Vayne, allowing him to roll forward a short distance. After his tumble, he also receives additional Movement Speed

His Q and Ultimate are the same in both versions of the game.

Is Teemo Really Better in Wild Rift?

The discussion was first sparked by a Redditor claiming that "Wild Rift actually made Teemo playable and fun." The reasoning for the claim was that Teemo finally felt like the little guerilla warfare champ Riot games want him to be instead of the shroom and blind bot he has become in League.

Even though we do agree that this version of Teemo sounds way more enjoyable to play, we are concerned this would make him too overpowered to be added into League. Teemo currently has a winrate of around 48% in the computer version, and implementing these changes without making him weaker in other aspects, could make him too strong.

Similar Changes Tried in Season 9

Riot Games did, as a matter of fact, already try to pull similar changes like this in League back in Season 9 on PBE. However, they decided not to go through with it because they weren't comfortable making changes a big part of his playerbase wasn't on board with.

Even though hated by many, some players still enjoy Teemo's peculiar playstyle to this day and aren't ready to say goodbye to it just yet. Do you think the changes to Teemo are a good idea?
