LoL: No More Yearly Pride Stories According To Riot
Riot celebrates pride throughout their games, with new icons, emotes and rainbow homeguard trails. With June being Pride Month and companies slapping a diversity label onto their logos, Riot is trying to differentiate themselves by celebrating pride all year round.
In a recent blog post, Riot revealed their plans for the future of Pride month, while also outlining what players can receive this year in celebration of diversity and the LGBTQIA+ community. One thing did strike players though and that was the fact that we won't be getting a Pride Story in 2023.
LoL LGBTQIA+ Stories Won't Be Released For Pride Month
In the blog statement from Riot they wrote that while Pride Month is great and shines a light upon the LGBTQIA+ community, it's our job to continuously celebrate pride and diversity and not just within one month.

At the end of the day, identities shouldn’t be tied to a particular month. We believe authentic representation makes for better game experiences 365 days a year.
Now this is a statement we agree with, but it is rather sad to know that the one guaranteed LGTBQIA+ story or lore drop we had previously is now not going to be a part of the yearly Pride celebration.
So while we won’t have a new story coming this Pride, we are going to tell, and will continue telling, these stories when the time is right by taking advantage of the full calendar year for LGBTQIA+ storytelling.
Fans Upset Over Lack of Lore On LoL Universe Page
Now the thing most players are upset about isn't the fact that we are not getting a new LGBTQIA+ story. With the amount of representation we've gotten in the League of Legends universe lately with Nami being confirmed to be bisexual, as well as unexplored characters like Neeko or Taliyah, there is room for a story.

Many fans are unhappy though with the general fact that it seems Riot has given up on telling any lore through stories and writing. The League of Legends universe page has been rather quiet lately, with one of the few lore drops having been Milio's color story.

Riot has since shifted to telling lore and the stories of the champions through new games like the Mageseeker and while that's great, many fans feel that Riot isn't doing enough for lore in League of Legends. Things like the Katarina webcomic haven't even made it to the universe page, with some of the biggest lore drops coming in the pre-story to the Mageseeker game.
For players who don't play these other games or have access to these special comics, it's a bit frustrating. So, will Riot be adding more to the universe page or are stories just a thing of the past?
