LoL Players Suggest Radical Changes to Ranked to Improve Game Quality
League of Legends isn't always the most fun game out there. It's plagued with toxic players, bots running it down mid, as well as awful matchmaking that just seems unfair. Things like players buying accounts for a few bucks and stomping on first-timers also ruins the level of entry for beginners as well.
So, some players, who are sick and tired of the toxic environment on Summoner's Rift, have made some radical suggestions that, they believe, could improve ranked gameplay and the environment of League in general?
LoL Players Suggest Adding Honour Level Barrier to Ranked Play
A Reddit user suggested that Riot locks ranked play behind one of the honour level checkpoints. They explained that this would improve the increasing amount of smurfs in low elo that simply purchase a cheap level 30 account to play ranked games against people way below their level of play.
They stated that this would not only benefit the ranked ecosystem, but the normal games as well, since players will be forced to play normals to earn a specific level of honour before being able to play in ranked games. Getting suspended will also be more meaningful than just getting honor rewards taken away since most players don't even pay attention to those either.
Other players have also chimed in on Reddit stating that this could be a good idea, but that honor reset every year would be an issue for some players. Therefore, it was also suggested that those players that earned a specific honor level in ranked the season prior, would automatically get to play ranked from the get-go.
This suggestion would also help with the smurfing issue at hand since some players will buy multiple level 30 accounts to smurf on newer and worse players. If an account reached the level of honour the season before, then they likely aren't using a newly bought account.
Some Players Feel That LoL Would Lose Players
While this is a good idea, some players fear that such a radical approach could also mean that some players won't be playing anymore. But, others counter this argument, asking whether smurfs and toxic players ruining games for beginners are even needed in League of Legends to begin with.
One thing is for sure though and that is that League of Legends does have a toxicity problem and things like the new ping wheel hasn't helped at all and only seemed to make things worse. Honor level and honor rewards aren't highly regarded either, so it seems that the community wants some drastic and radical changes to improve their solo queue experience.
