Evil Geniuses, the LCS Spring Champions just announced that their star bot laner Kyle "Danny" Sakamaki will not be competing in the upcoming LCS Championship finals weekend.

Danny has been a key player in the team's success with his clutch late game carry games which earned them their spot at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational, as well as getting the team this far into the playoffs with a great season and insane stats.

Danny Absence Due to Mental Health

In the statement from Evil Geniuses CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson, it is stated that Danny will be taking a break from the LCS due to metnal health.

It takes a great deal of courage and self-awareness to recognize when the right time is to step away from something you've worked so hard at achieving, especially when you care so deeplly for this organization and your teammates, in order to focus on mental health.

She went on to ask for the fan's support and understanding for this situation, saying it isn't easy to make such a decision ahead of such a crucial weekend. The team might have to call up their Academy bot laner Muhammed Hasan "Kaori" Şentürk ahead of the weekend.

Will Danny Be At Worlds 2022?

Evil Geniuses have qualified for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship with their 5-game win over Team Liquid last weekend. Whether Danny is going to be healthy and ready to start for the team has not been revealed yet though, so fans are going to have to be patient to know more.

This wouldn't be the first time a team will have to compete without their star ADC though. Last year, Fnatic had to go without their bot laner Upset after he rushed home due to personal issues.

Evil Geniuses is a great team and we wish them the best of luck in the coming weekend as they take on 100 Thieves as they fight for a spot at the LCS finals against Cloud9, as well as an insta-lock into the League of Legends Worlds group stage
