Earlier in January, James "Dash" Patterson announced that he would not be a part of the LCS analyst desk starting in 2023. This came as a huge shock to the community, and many thought this was the final nail in the coffin for the LCS and a sign that Riot had completely given up on the region.

But on January 19, 2023 Riot revealed their plans for the LCS in 2023, like where the upcoming finals will be, as well as the return of Dash, but in a different role than before.

Dash to Receive Own Roadshow

Instead of being confined to the desk and leading the analysis, as has been done in recent years, the LCS will try to branch out and try out different formats, moving away from the standard sports broadcast that has taken over the industry.

One of the newly introduced features of the LCS, will be Dash's roadshow in which he will introduce LCS players outside of the arena, giving fans a glimpse of the players personalities.

We’re unleashing Dash from the desk to lead his own excursion show with LCS players, coaxing unseen personality quirks from our pros as they travel outside the arena.

CaptainFlowers, Azael & More Return to LCS in 2023

Of course, fan-favorite caster CaptainFlowers will be a huge part of the LCS broadcast in 2023, with both Dash and Phreak moving to different positions. But who else will join the LCS in 2023?

  • Azael
  • CaptainFlowers
  • Emily Rand
  • Jatt
  • Kobe
  • Letigress
  • Markz
  • Raafaa
  • Raz

Raafaa is going to be a new face on the broadcast, but many will know him from his time casting Proving Grounds. He's now stepped up to the big leagues and will be a great addition to the LCS caster desk in 2023.

LCS Will Feature New Segments

While the casting and analysis segments have worked well in the past, the LCS broadcast will branch out and try out new things in 2023 with things like gameplay breakdowns, sketches and a Player Profiles series. These are all things regular viewers of the LCS have gotten to see during the Summer of 2022, but now the LCS will commit to these new segments on a bigger scale.

The start time of the LCS has also been pushed back by two hours which should mean that more viewers can tune in to watch the action. Let's wait and see what the LCS has in store for fans this year with the new broadcast, new time and new days.
