Teamfight Tactics has become one of the most popular League of Legends play modes and the most successful auto-chess games in general. Now, Riot Games has announced the first iteration of the Golden Spatula Cup. Players from all over Europe have the chance to gain GSC points and prize money.

The Golden Spatula Cup #1

Riot Games has announced the first Golden Spatula Cup. The TFT tournament will be held from 14th to 16th of July 2023 for players from all over Europe. The winner will receive prize money, Golden Spatula Cup Points (GSC points) and a direct invite to the Rising Legends Finals.

The Golden Spatula Cup #1 will take place 14th -16th of July. Starting time is 15.30 CEST (3.30pm) for the pre-show and the first game is set for 16.00 CEST (4pm), each day. 128 players will participate in the tournament, qualified from Open Qualifiers, the Ladder and the TFT Regional Competitions.

According to Riot Games, there will be six rounds played each day. The lobbies will be reseeded between every game in the swiss system.  After the first day, the field will be cut down to 64 players. This whole process will be happening again on day 2. Here, only the top 32 players will survive.

On the third day, the winner will secure their spot in the Rising Legends Final. Meanwhile, the second to 64th placed players will receive GSC points. These are useful for the future tournaments. After all, three planned Golden Spatula Cups are played, the top 21 point earners will also go to the Rising Legends Finals.

Qualification Process

128 qualified players will participate at the Golden Spatula Cup. There are three ways to qualify and earn a spot.

32 players qualified through the Open Qualifier, held from July 3-5. Additional 48 spots are given to the best ladder players from the different servers. 30 spots for EU West, 10 spots for EU Nordic-East, 6 spots for Türkiye and 2 spots for Russia.

Another 48 players are qualified through the Regional Competitions. 6 spots for the DACH region, 6 spots for France, 6 spots for Eastern Europe, 6 spots for Poland, 5 spots for Türkiye, 5 spots for RoEMEA, 4 spots for Northern Europe, 4 spots for Spain, 3 spots for MENA and 3 spots for Italy.

Sounds like the Eurovision Song Contest, right?
