T1 can not catch a break this summer: Bae 'Bengi' Seong-woong has stepped down from his role as head coach. In his place, his assistant Im 'Tom' Jae-hyeon will lead the team as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2023 season.

T1 fans are living through their worst nightmare right now. First, the team's superstar Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok has to step aside due to an arm injury. He was replaced by 17-year-old academy mid laner Yoon 'Poby' Sung-won, who unfortunately could not prevent T1 from losing to DRX and Gen.G. Now, Bengi has left the team aswell.

On T1's Twitter page, general manager Jeong 'becker' Hoi-yoon released a statement in which he thanks Bengi for his efforts. He confirms that Bengi has asked to be released, yet has not given a specific reason.

Furthermore, Becker also states that "we believe that Tom will guide the team during this time of change and that his leadership will continue to foster unity and resilience." Now, Tom has the difficult job to help T1 regain their momentum, as the team has to play at least one more week without Faker. It is expected that Poby continues to play in his place.

T1 are currently sitting in fifth place of the LCK summer split with a 6-4 score line. They are currently not threatened to miss out on playoffs as they are three wins ahead of seventh-placed DRX with eight matches remaining. However, the top two places that would guarantee them a place in round two off the playoffs are equally far away, as Gen.G and kt Rolster continue to be untouchable for the rest of the playing field.
