Excel's mid laner Vincent "Vetheo" Berrié announced yesterday he will be taking a break to focus on his mental health. His substitute will be none other than former mid laner for 100 Thieves, Abbedagge.

Excel Esports hasn't had the easiest start to the new year. At the beginning of 2023, the team finished last place in the LEC Winter Split with only one victory out of the nine games they played. This was, of course, a massive blow for the organization, and Vetheo came out stating he had lost confidence in himself after the disappointing results.

Going into the Spring Split, the organization decided to change out its support and a major part of its coaching staff to improve their results from Winter. As a result, even though Excel currently still finds itself in last place, they are tied with four other teams and have one more victory than the previous split.

Yesterday, Excel's mid laner Vincent "Vetheo" Berrié announced on Twitter that he would be stepping down before the last week of the first stage in the LEC Spring Split. This is what he had to say about the situation:

I've been really far from social medias in the past 2 months, so I want to express a bit how I feel. I've been depressed since winter split and I don't know how to get better if not winning. I think it is time to take a bit care of myself

Not long after Vetheo's tweet, Excel Esports made an official statement confirming Vetheo's tweet. In Excel's statement, they express their support for Vetheo and announce that their substitute mid laner, Abbedagge, will take Vetheo's place in his absence.

Abbedagge has been Excel's substitute mid laner since the beginning of 2023. Last year, he was part of the LCS team 100 Thieves, who made it all the way to the LCS Summer Finals 2022, where they eventually lost 3-0 against Cloud9.

With Abbedagge's past experience, Excel has complete confidence he will be able to show up for the final week of the first stage in the LEC Spring Split. Furthermore, Abbedagge also has experience playing with Excel's toplaner, Odoamne, back in 2022 for the Schalke 04 Miracle Run.7

We wish the best for Vetheo and hope he will regain his strength while on break. Do you think Excel has what it takes to make it to the second stage of the LEC 2+23 Spring Split?
