New Reports Hints to Worlds 2024 Returning to London
The League of Legends World Championship will likely return to Europe, more specifically, London next year for the semi-finals or finals.
As already mentioned, MSI 2023 was hosted in London and was a huge success both online and for the fans in the stadium. The event took place at Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
According to Esport News UK, several trusted sources reported that Worlds will be hosted in London following the massive success we witnessed for the Mid-Season Invitational. Even though it is too early to be 100% certain, it is already clear that Riot Games is in discussion with the government.
In a Riot press conference Naz Alethana, the Global Head of League of Legends Esports, reported to Esports News UK that the international support found in London during the MSI is precisely what Riot is looking for when selecting the location for their most significant event of the year.
The last time Worlds took place in London was in 2015 for the quarter-finals, and the grand finale was hosted in Berlin, where Faker famously did his forward roll before winning 3-1 with SK Telecom against Koo Tigers.
The last time Worlds was hosted in Europe, however, was not so long ago. Due to Covid restrictions, the League of Legends World Championship 2021 was moved from China to Reykjavik, Iceland, with all stages taking place at the same arena.
Regardless of where Worlds 2024 takes place, we are excited to see what next year has to offer. But until then, let's focus on the action already unfolding this year!
